Ken: I was adopted and raised in Washington state. I have an adopted sister. My dad was with the Washington State Patrol in radio communications and my mom was a nurse. I had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home. At nine years of age at Boys Brigade on a Wednesday night in November, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my Savior. I am His child forever! While attending Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon, I taught Good News Clubs®. This was my first contact with CEF. In my senior year two things happened. I saw a film called "Children Crying in the Streets" which brought tears to my eyes because of children hurting and needing love. Also the Lord showed me that I have a gift of teaching. During Leadership Training Institute the Lord gave me the opportunity to lead seven children to the Lord. I knew God wanted me in this ministry to children. I went on to Spokane, Washington and spent eight wonderful years working with the local CEF director, Ray Paulson. I began my CEF ministry in Australia in 1991. Have been in CEF since 1985 ( 20 years). It is a joy to teach the children in government schools, religious instruction for one half hour per week (grades 1-7). We teach 10-12 Scripture classes per week in the public schools plus have Good News Clubs after school. We have a real burden to see others trained so the work can continue and more Good News Clubs can be held in the schools. We also taught in camps, open air and at Keswick conventions (twice a year).
Sue: My mother came to know the Lord in Lebanon in 1948 thanks to CEF and she has taught using the materials all my life. She led me to the Lord. I used to help her teach Scripture in the schools. I now have her materials and have been teaching since I was a teenager. I gave my life to the Lord and His service after one of my mother's usual daily flannelgraph Bible lessons. I had become increasingly aware of my sin and need of a Savior. My parents taught me what it means to love and serve the Lord. I developed a hunger for God's Word and prayer at an early age, and have continued to want that for myself. Since I was 13 years old I have been involved in Bible studies and ministry. I married Ken in 1994 and want to give my husband 100% of my help.
