Purpose Statement: To help senior citizens minister to each other using their wisdom, spiritual gifts and time. FOCAL POINT: 1. Prayer 2. Visitation (shut-ins as well as the elderly) 3. Bible Studies 4. "First Wednesdays at West Side" events (check the church calendar for meeting times) 5. Fall Harvest Banquet (outreach) 6. April Spring Banquet 7. 4th of July Celebrations (outreach) 8. Cross-generational gatherings and fellowship

There are over 175 adults over the age of 55 who attend West Side Baptist Church. Many of these people have served faithfully in the past and still have a burden for reaching the world for Christ.     The Senior Ministry Team brings together the various efforts that are in place so as to provide structure and increase opportunities to serve. Through the provision of "First Wednesday" and other senior events, there are opportunities to reach out to unsaved peers.  Current study in the book of 2 Timothy. Held in the Senior Ministry Center at 10:30 am on Sundays during the 2nd service. Everyone is welcome! Upcoming Events: Wilma Coffman coordinates for those needing rides to any Senior event; give her a call at 457-8353. While sponsored by Seniors Ministry, everyone is welcome to attend First Wednesday events. February 3, 2010 ~ 10 am Commons   Dr. Vic Sharpe will be our special speaker. He will answering the medical questions you may have.   Lunch to follow at 11:30. Casseroles will be provided by the ministry team members. Bring a salad to share.  March 3, 2010 ~ 10 am (Meet in the church parking lot; then ride the church van or carpool to the Union Gospel Mission.)   Executive Director Rick Phillips will give us a tour of the facility and speak about poverty in Yakima. Please bring a toothbrush to donate to the Mission.   Lunch will be at the Mission. A donation will be taken.  TUESDAY, April 13 Annual Spring Banquet 6 pm in the Commons   A delicious catered  meal, special music and great fellowship. Pastor Nic Natale will be our guest speaker. This is an opportunity for you to invite friends for a fun evening. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Connections Counter towards the end of March.
